About The Geopolitical Economist

Independent analysis of geopolitics and the world economy.

What we do

The Geopolitical Economist publishes analysis and research on the seam between power and money. Trade balances that turn into security problems. Wars decided by industrial capacity and fiscal room. Technologies and commodities that move the balance of power before any treaty notices. We write for readers who want the argument and the evidence, not the noise.

The name is the method. Geopolitics without economics is theatre; economics without geopolitics is a spreadsheet. Every piece here tries to hold both at once.

What we publish

  • Analysis. Timely pieces on a development that matters, with the numbers and documents behind it.
  • Research & reports. Longer briefs with a stated question, checkable evidence and a citable page.
  • Editor's notes. Occasional notes on the publication itself.

Editorial standards

  • Every claim of fact carries a source a reader can find, in the text or in the chart.
  • Opinion is labelled as opinion. Analysis says what would change its conclusion.
  • Errors are corrected on the page with a dated note, never silently.
  • Nothing is published for a sponsor, and nothing sponsored is disguised as analysis.
  • Illustrations state their source. Where an image is AI-generated, the caption says so.

History

The publication was founded in 2024 and grew through a community of writers and readers on Medium. This site, launched in September 2026, is its permanent home and the first place new work appears.

Contact
